Ms. Zerkowski has been exploring the organizations and societies associated with the Civil War since the discovery of a Woman’s
Relief Corps badge in a Louisville Kentucky antique mall some 25 years ago – and wondering what it was. The quest has been to
learn through discovery as information is void on the Woman’s Relief Corps (and many similar organizations) and frequently
inaccurate.
This has resulted in the culmination of her book, released in 2010, Badges and History of the National Woman’s Relief Corps –
Auxiliary to the Grand Army of the Republic, to share the knowledge she has gained through her research.
In the course of her research, Ms. Zerkowski learned the Woman’s Relief Corps continues to be an active ongoing organization and
at the National Convention of the Woman’s Relief Corps in August 2010, she was elected its National Junior Vice President.
